Rev. Bachman and Rev. Klick, suggested the Heidelberg Church Ladies Aid Society officially organize in 1948. The group quilted once a week as a fund raiser. Prices charged were 65 cents per hundred yards of thread and 35 cents to hem the edges of quilts. In 1962 they reported having quilted 221 spreads, 11 comforters and 1483 aprons. Money earned was used to buy necessities for the church such as kitchen supplies, a refrigerator, and an electric range. Earnings were also donated to the Lutheran Home in Topton, Phoebe Home in Allentown, and needy families in the area. The members looked forward to these weekly gatherings as an important part of their social life. Seated around the table from left to right are Cena Kuntz, Florence Metzger, Arlene Strauss, Viola Fink, Mabel Hausman, Lillie Metzger, Minnie Harter, Mamie Leibensperger, Lillian Hill, Della Hensinger, Annie Bachman, Verna Hamm, and Ida Hollenbach.
